Abstract
More than half of the human population comprises of females, yet they have very little part to play in national development. Even when they play a dominant role in some aspects of development, as in agriculture and food production, they do not appear anywhere in statistics nor in economics. They are unrecognized and by passed in every step. Gender discrimination in India, as in most developing countries, continue unabated inspite of some government measures and official and political statements.
